The function, type and characteristics of the conservator


The conservator is located in the upper part of the transformer tank. It is a container that communicates with the transformer oil tank in order to adapt to the change of oil volume in the transformer oil tank. It can be divided into the ontology conservator and the on-load tap-changer conservator. The two conservators have been installed separately and also installed in one. The internal insulation oil does not communicate with each other during operation. The conservator is installed in the upper part of the transformer tank and connected with the transformer oil tank. The volume of the conservator is generally 8~10% of the total oil amount of the transformer.

The conservator can be divided into open-type and fully sealed conservator according to the structure. Fully sealed conservator can be divided into oil-resistant rubber sealed conservator and metal bellows type conservator. And oil-resistant rubber conservator can be divided into oil - resistant capsule type conservator and diaphragm type conservator; Metal bellows type conservator can be divided into internal conservator and external oil conservator (external oil vertical and external oil horizontal).

Regardless of the conservator structure, there are two main functions:

①The volume change (expansion or contraction) caused by the insulating oil temperature change of the compensation body, ensures that the transformer oil in the transformer tank is always full.

②In the operation of the transformer, only the insulating oil in the conservator is in contact with the air or not. Therefore, the contact surface of transformer oil and air can be reduced to prevent moisture absorption and oxidation of insulating oil.

The conservator is an important part of the transformer. It is installed on the top of the transformer and connected with the transformer oil tank. The compensation volume of the conservator is generally 8~10% of the total oil weight of the transformer. In normal operation, a certain amount of insulating oil should be kept in the conservator, and the amount of oil should be determined according to the oil temperature curve.

For more than 35 KV transformer, the working process of the conservator it fully sealed condition, namely the insulating oil and air isolation, prevent moisture in the air and oxygen make the insulating oil be affected with damp, be affected with damp and aging, affect the insulation performance. The traditional components used for isolation are rubber diaphragm and rubber bursa, and the new type is metal bellows.

The rubber conservator has been used for nearly 30 years, and its main problems are as follows:

①The durability of the rubber is poor and cannot be equal to the main transformer. It is usually necessary to carry out regular maintenance and replacement (3~5 years) in the life time of the main transformer. This has brought long-term maintenance pressure to the equipment power system.

②About structural factors, capsule and diaphragm will produce condensation, and most of the time stored with drop or pool (The effect of the hygroscopic device is limited.), this phenomenon can be seen in every time of repair. Oil storage tank of the working condition of main transformer has the very big threat, especially rubber aging, easy to crack, permeability, the moisture on the rubber parts in hidden state into oil, often is not found in time.

③There are some problems in the use of the conservator, such as the installation of the oil filling program, the general phenomenon of false oil level, and the congestion of the breath vent.

④As for the diaphragm conservator, the leakage problem of the sealing surface is always a difficult problem to be solved.

Features of metal corrugate conservator:

(1) It is made of stainless steel with high strength, long life, corrosion resistance and good reliability.

(2) Super soft corrugate pipe structure, excellent volume compensation ability, can replace various specifications of rubber capsule or diaphragm conservator.

(3) The all-welded structure is truly realized, and the sealing is good and no leakage.

(4) Fully functional, with the functions of extreme oil level alarm, oil level remote transmission, leakage alarm, exhaust, sewage discharge, etc.

(5) The external magnetic coupling flip oil level indicator is completely isolated from the oil storage chamber, which is convenient for inspection and replacement. There is no hidden trouble, safe and reliable, and clear and accurate.

(6) The new oil conservator shall not affect the insulation of the original transformer. The connection size of each pipe is the same as that of the original conservator, and the product installation injection is extremely simple and can realize full vacuum filling.

(7) Adopt computer optimization design, automatic welding and bellows forming process. The product is tested by strict air tightness and oil filling before leaving the factory.
